Title: Whitefriars Inkell Stopper?

I'm guessing this an Old English Whitefriars Inkwell Stopper that has been ground down to make a paperweight. Anybody agree/disagree? (it's been driving me crazy)

Definitely Perthshire - you can see the "P" signature cane in the outer ring.

Ahaa! Just noticed the 'P' cane. Thanks! Any idea of the age?

Welcome to the Board, Longshanks.

When you said "Old English Whitefriars", were you thinking of the often stated "antique Whitefriars" items? If so, you will find a good bit of information on the Board about that. Using the Search function and restricting to the Paperweights forum will locate threads where it explained that there was actually no such thing. (But some people still think there were!)

It's a 'PP4' - clear, hollow ground base indicates between 1972 and 1992.

Thanks Wuff and thank you Kevin. I am just learning now that the latest research challenges the earlier assumptions about Whitefriars - interesting stuff.

Does the rule of the P cane making it post 1978 apply?

  Doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule to all perthshire and in the case of the PP4 it MAY be signed in the outer ring but not always . The answer is no. Regards Roger.
