Title: Kosta Boda yellow/orange dish, unsigned
Post by: rocco on August 12, 2012, 03:52:22 PM
I cannot find this one on the web, so any help regarding designer/range highly appreciated!

Hotworked dish, yellow and orange slightly mottled glass, 20 cm long, 3.5 cm high.
Flat polished base, unsigned; white Kosta Boda paper label.

It doesn't seem to be from current production, but from the style I would guess it was made rather recently, maybe 1980s/90s?
The mottled colours are similar to some Bertil Vallien pieces I had...

Thanks!
Michael

Can't remember the exact year, but I believe it is from the start of the 90's. The designer is Gunnel Sahlin.
best wishes, a40ty

a40ty, thank you so much for the ID -- that was fast!

Now that you gave me the designer, I found a few other pieces from this range online, at least one of them signed; does the fact that mine is unsigned indicate that it is a second? (it does have some air bubbles in it).

Hi Rocco, the white label indicates that it is a second  ;) Unsigned pieces were, at that time, usually seconds. I don't know what the policy is nowadays.
I have seen signed pieces that were seconds too, there was a small roman "ll" added to the signature.
Actually, this particular series had a problem; some of the orange pieces smelt strongly and had an oily feel to them. Washing removed the problem for a short while but it returned. I don't know what caused it, some mistake in the glassmix, I suppose.
best wishes, a40ty

My deepest thanks for the additional info!

Very useful to learn that the white label indicates a second :)

I will test the smell / oily feel issue...
