Post by: RAY on September 30, 2012, 07:40:43 PM
picked this one up today, only measures 3.5" high, it marked on the base with the studio logo and marked dartington just around the basle rim, is it from the alchemy Range?.... thanks

 :)
Yup. Alchemy "Sapphire" Ray.  Nice one! - it's been very very thin on the ground recently, rather than just a bit slim.

Alchemy is gorgeous.
Only made for a very short period, it was too expensive to sell well new - but the price merely reflected the high cost of production, so it was discontined.
I think this general principle applies to nearly all Dartington Studio.
I was watching it all coming out, back in 2000, waiting for the next design to appear.
The Studio was a fabulous idea, the designs, based loosely on high-quality old glass and using the old fashioned methods and materials, were stunning.

I only have one piece of Dartington Studio as I sold my others.   I agree with all you've said.  The quality of the pieces I've had has been perfect and the designs of the glass are superb for some of them.
