Can Any one identify this piece I recently purchased from my favourite junk shop. Thanks

if the top is polished smooth you may be looking at something German or Swedish. But if the top is rough (use your nail) it is either Chinese or Polish. This is just to get our brains in motion, not an attribution or an axiomatic statement.

Hi Ivo. It is smooth. Thanks for the indication though

that's one of my favourite websites Emil :) It feels as though the pieces are quite obscure but has some great pieces on it. I keep hoping one day I'll buy a piece I can id from there.

Hi Emil. A fantastic website and thanks alot for solving that mystery. I must say I have only been on this site for a day and am amazed by everyones knowledge. Thanks again iC1

I just found that site myself, and yeah it's great! Fåglavik is extremely collectable IMO, they're very cheap here in Sweden and at the same time the designs are usually quite distinct. Pretty much like Czech glass, even though one might argue that Czech designers rank a bit higher on an international scale. Fåglavik hasn't really had any big names as far as I know. Still, great glass in its own right.

Great site Emil, I especially liked the photos of all the workers and the glassmaking tools and moulds etc, fascinating.

Oh Emil, thank you for that lovely link to this wonderful site....every day, something special seems to happen for me....today this was it!! I have bookmarked it, and now want to know more about their lampshades they made. In the 70's we were going through a 'Scandinavian' period in the home, and liked all things Scandi.....we bought a new glass lampshade for the hall and it was so simple in design, but so beautiful. We still have it and it is still in use in the hall in this new house.....but I have always hoped that one day I would find a matching one for the landing light. Well, last week, I DID find an identical one on eBay, and bought it.......I was thrilled!! The reason I am telling you this, is because having looked at the Fåglavik site, I am wondering if it was they who made it?
It would go very well with your vase ic1 !!
