Title: I assume it is Scandinavian BUT ID = Inge Samuelsson for SEA, "Rocket"
Post by: ahremck on May 11, 2011, 12:43:16 PM
I picked up this delightful small vase(c.12cms tall) from the op-shop for a $1.00 .  From the finish and weight I suspect it is of Scandinavian origin.  As you can see the base has obviously been formed in a mould - no sign of a pontil.

Can someone suggest who made it, and hopefully, who designed it.

From the finish and weight I suspect

right, Finish is the operative word. It is from Riihimäen Lasi, 1960s and a factory design - it will probably not be possible to attribute this to a single designer.

Pretty sure this is by Sea Glasbruk (Swedish).

Do we know if the designer info is accurate?

Another link with the same designer info: [Link (http://www.coliseum-shop.com/en/catalog/3-interior-design/64-vases-holders/649-rocket-sea-glasbruk-inge-samuelsson.html)]

Those look very new, maybe they're still in production, so I guess the designer info is probably correct?

How cool is that! :hiclp: :hiclp: :hiclp: :hiclp:

54 minutes later from the other side of the world(literally) I have it identified and confirmed.  Simply stunning.

Thanks to all and especially Angela Bowey for getting this wondrous resource going with others I don't know.

According to the same poster the large one in this link is a current production piece.

Ah right, so large ones are new, small ones are 60's.  They seem to know their stuff!

Still just a bit confused about these vases.  I have the book and it shows the vase as 5" (12.7cm).  I see from this thread that there are larger ones in current production, but they look quite a bit bigger.  My cobalt blue one is almost 6" (15cm).......... did they do any other sizes in 1960?

Thanks
Cat

Yes, they have started the production with the same name - Rocket again. (At least it was in that way for a couple of years ago, but today??? I don't know).
