I know Ivo, but at the bottom of page two (other item) they say " maybe Fenton glassware is a kind of glassware whose name that the chinese people don't use often" does that mean Fenton are next?.

Sue, don't worry about your spelling! It's a message board, so people expect a few errors.

Fenton aren't next - they're already using them! Last year Fenton announced that they were outsourcing some of their glass to China. People had already realised it was so, as they had bought flowers in Fenton vases via an interflora/teleflora type of firm (I can't recall the exact name right now). The vases were Fenton marked on a paper label....Made in China.

Fenton are still producing hand made glass at their US factory in Williamstown - but they are also outsourcing.

Here are the links to see the vase designed by Fenton and made in China. Also the Fenton official information about it.

Fenton site is offline.

Intriguing use of Licensed by xxxx and in the case Galway Crystal: http://www.teleflora.com/product.asp?id=114040&Visited=Yes

Presumably, Teleflora have licensed other designs but I cannot get a search on their site for the word working. Nice for the glass companies who earn a royalty for no additional investment but one presumes they do ensure quality befits their name so must also be exporting skills and techniques to China. How long though before the use of a trademark no longer requires that the item be of the TM owners design a has happened with toys.

It is up now... was down most of the day. Interesting they add Waterford to the list. More interesting though is that they are fully open about this business move... I wonder if they will get a any hate mail as a result!
