Title: Vasart Plate? Tentative ID: Usually attributed to Schneider
Post by: wesley on August 13, 2008, 09:28:46 PM
Hello,

Can anyone help me identify this pair of unsigned glass plates. Both in cloudy streaky orange, they have a ground pontil. I bought them with some signed Vasart pieces and wondered if they were the same? I don't think they are Whitefriars as I did not think they did an orange range (that was my other thought.)

Kind regards,

Wesley

The plainer plates are almost impossible to attribute to Vasart or Monart and could be almost any maker. You would need to match the colour and this one does not particularly scream Vasart.

Hi,

These, and the finger bowls that match them, have over the years usually been attributed to Schneider. The colour, the way it is laid in, and the weight of the item(s) conforms to a series of jugs and tumblers that are also known as by Schneider, but are, as far as I know, also never marked. (Orange with a green handle and orange tumblers, etc).
