Title: Any Ideas?
Post by: Pappyuk on May 21, 2006, 07:18:09 PM
Hi, any ideas who made/designed the attached bottle?  It belongs to my nan, don't know much about it though - I think she picked it up in a charity shop?

Many thanks.

Hi,

Very nice: looks like ruby-flashed Bohemian, but I could be wrong - not really my field - and there are other European makers. VSL, perhaps?

Ok thanks - so it could be Bohemian.

... or Val St. Lambert (VSL, Belgium), but I'd prefer to hedge my bets until someone more knowledgable come along :D

Give it time and someone might be able to provide a more definitive answer.

Yes Bohemian IMHO (Czech, German ...possibly Polish)

With this type of item the technique (flashed and cut to clear), quality (of the cutting, glass, etc) and condition are more important factors than exactly whom it was made by, which is difficult to pin down.

When, is also a problem as I suspect they were produced over several decades which no discernable difference in style. Only close examination in person by someone with significant experience of handling this type of item could tell with any certainly.

I have seen several of these on Ebay within the past 3 months or so.
Yours is missing it's stopper.
