Title: Trinket set - ID = Walther Münster
Post by: uraniumsteve on April 24, 2010, 09:22:31 AM
Sorry about all these questions one after another but I have been told off for posting incorrectly, you know its 1 question 1 post. So here it is my Uranium glass trinket pot? I would say its Art deco I dont know why but it sort of seems like an oriental design to me. Any offers of knowlege will be appreciated
Cheers Steve

Can't ID it, but as to your observation about the oriental design, if I may add an observantion: oriental influences were very present in European designs since the late Victorian eara, due to some Japanese exhibitions (they inspired Gilbert and Sullivan to the Mikado), and I know the Ballet Russe were still designing oriental type costumes between 1909 and 1929 in France (and influencing fashion and design again in that area). A bit of a long time stretch to be working with, I'm afraid, so not very helpful, but oriental design fits the period and might point to areas where these influences were stronger.

Walther Munster trinket pot. See the 1930s Walther catalogues here http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/h2-glas-br-musterbuch-de-h2.26.0.html

Uranium glass and also found in non-matted

It's not so much the number of postings, rather the number of ID requests at any one time. Spread them out  :)

I tried to post this in German Glass but it wouldn't let me. It has a stick missing and sadly a chip in the corner of the tray. The Glass Trinkets site has the green but no mention of Uranium. Thanks. Pete
