Title: Bohemian (?) swan sulphide information help needed please
Post by: karelm on May 18, 2007, 02:01:31 PM
Hi,
I recently bought this weight:
Side: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-7120
Base: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-7119

The side view shows what looks like cracks on the weight but these are manufacturing marks in the weight around the swan.  Also a lot of fuzz/spiderwebs around the swan seen on the side view.  The ground is sulpher scattered with tiny pieces of glass (I know there is a name but just cannot remember it now ???)  Base is ground flat and polished (although it has been scratched from movement)
I unfortunately need to sell this and please need help in terms of confirmation that it is Bohemian.  Also I would like to know if the "fuzz" around the sulpher is normal?  Lastly is there an online reference to Bohemian weights, their makers, general info and there estimated value?  I have tried to find similar weights on the web and could only find one, and that had the same swan but was faceted.
Thanks for the help and kind regards,
