Title: Uranium Ikora
Post by: dirk. on March 29, 2010, 07:38:27 PM
Hi!
Here are two of my favourite pieces. Both are WMF Ikora bowls made of uranium with orange
flecks. The colour combination seems quite rare and only appears in their 1933 catalogue.
No question this time - only hope you'll enjoy!  :)
The larger one's 23cm wide and 7cm high, the smaller 16cm wide and 6cm tall. Anyone got
further examples of Ikora uranium? I'd love to have a look!
Cheers,
Dirk

They're lovely Dirk. Thank you for sharing.  :kissy: Must keep my eyes open for a piece.

Christine, there's other colour combinations, which contain uranium as well. Unfortunately the last examples I've seen, caught prices beyond my budget. As Ikora often isn't expected to have an uranium content, you should just keep your well-trained eye on any Ikora you see. There's one further example on great-glass and on last year's National glass fair preview site:

Thanks, Roy! It hadn't occured to me their blue would contain uranium as well.
Lovely vase you have there anyway, the colourway is stunning!  :)

I'm so happy, I just need to show off a little. Now I've got a collection of uranium Ikora - the third piece arrived a few days ago.  ;)  A large bowl (31cm) in uranium and birch green. Enjoy!

Dirk, all three pieces are wonderful... but what's even more charming is the sheer joy you emit.  ;D   There really should be more people like you, willing to openly show their excitement and pleasure with their finds.

I'm extremely happy for you!

Thank you all for your nice comments!
Unfortunately I missed the other two uranium Ikoras, which came on ebay.de this year. One was an absolutely stunning large vase in blue cased uranium. It went for 600€ and therefore was way out of my budget. The other one was a small all uranium vase - I missed it because of browser problems...
When this one popped up I wasn't too confident I'd be able to get it. The prices for Ikora seem
to be increasing at the moment. Nevertheless - I'm infected, I'm addicted, I need more!  ;D
