Title: Riihimaki vase?
Post by: vanmann on January 17, 2011, 02:39:06 PM: I bought this blue vase thinking that it may be a Tamara Aladin design but cannot trace one in this pattern at this height (28 cms). The nearest I found was a pattern 1379 but that appears to be only 25cms. Any thoughts will be much appreciated. Thanks JOHN

Post by: px on January 17, 2011, 04:49:26 PM: Interesting enough - I have noticed the export models from RiihimÃ¤ki that time where usually produced in either heights 16/18/22/28 cm or 20/25/30 cm but this model - which by the way has not been officially attributed to Tamara Aladin although often sold as one - seems to have been produced in both series of heights.

Of around forty or fifty bits I have bought over the years only one was signed (this one) (http://picasaweb.google.com/Johnmj100/ScandinavianGlass#5430334739242779586) and a small vase had the acid etched mark.

Post by: px on October 21, 2012, 04:48:59 AM: Just for the record; this model has now been officially attributed to Erkkitapio Siiroinen in the catalogue published this year for the exhibition of his work in Riihimäen Lasimuseo.
They mention since the Riihimäen Lasi 100 years book was published (with a catalogue of Siiroinen's work) they had found some photographs to be able to identify a couple additions, this is one.

Really? Since I am quite unfamiliar with Reijmyre and I know many Riihimäen vases do occur with concentric circles I would be curious to hear more. Would you mind specifying "the non Riihimäki variants of this" please ? :)

I think that info in the Millers guide is incorrect, the bit about the base rings certainly is. The green looks like the ordinary emerald sort of green used by Riihimaen Lasi and they did use a lime green too - I used to have a Solmuke vase in an almost lime green.
