Title: John Deacons good value?
Post by: adam20 on October 09, 2011, 12:26:39 PM
Here is a John Deacons weight just bought - bought for £12.00 so can't complain - what do others think of his his volume output compared to other Scottish makers? I recently posted a scramble of his I bought cheaply and was quite pleased, as I am with this.

Thanks Adam

I have to agree about the good value.  I bought 11 in one go - I wanted to have a variety of styles - some I really like others were less impressive in the flesh.  No one in Australia makes weights in that sort of style anyway.  Mine worked out at about 13 pounds each delivered to Australia - astounding value.

Here are four examples from my collection.

JDs cheaper weights do tend to swamp the market at times but it a good place to start when entering the world of weights because at a very reasonable price you can purchase and closely examine the art of making them. Then try to envision how they are made.
Also good for John in the gift shop because we all have to make a living in these difficult financial times.
