I thought this might be a Perthshire weight? Any help much appreciated :sun: It is on a creamy yellow ground that is mottled.
my camera has given up the ghost on batteries so I will have to add later a base and side shot if they are required.

Hi flying free,
It is an early Perthshire PP2 (it should have a 2 1/2 inch diameter).

It does measure 2 1/2" Sophie and thank you :)
Wolkenreb I don't think PP2 means it's a second. It is the code for the weight (at least I believe it is....I know nothing about paperweights :))

Hi there,
Indeed, PP2 is the reference for this particular style of Perthshire weight and it is an unlimited edition. It is possible to divide Perthshire production roughly into two categories: the annual limited editions and the PP editions which may be limited or unlimited. PP1 and PP2 are the most common unlimited editions;they have both similar spoke designs but different sizes (PP1-3 inch / PP2-2 1/2 inch). Both types were produced throughout the life of the factory. As unlimited editions were not signed with a P until 1978.
There should be not any seconds for Perthshire as the factory destroyed systematically all seconds every week.

Thanks for the explanation Sophie. My mind must have read PP2 as 'Perthshire Paperweight 2nd' I guess. Fascinating that they didn't allow anything but perfection out into the world. Always learning . . .
