Title: Orrefors Decanter, older label?
Post by: eglass on January 02, 2007, 05:03:21 PM
Happy 2007, everyone!

I have a decanter that I'm looking for information about...this has a label, and stands 8.75" tall with the stopper in place, and 4.375" in diameter. I have a photo of the mark, but now that I see it here I need to get a better one, this one is lousy. It just looks like a handwritten "orrefors" then either "PR" or "DR" and the number 2507. I will be back with a better photo, but in the meantime someone may recognize it by the style so I'll go ahead and leave these pics. :)

Thanks for all your help,

Kelli

I can't find the exact decanter, but I found a photo of a similar one by Sven Palmqvist.

(Apologies for long link - can't find the instructions for making them shorter)

From another source, the engraved details on the base of the one above apparently reads: orrefors SD2508-G

To my eye, the two styles seems to be related - what do you think?

Max, you're a genius! YES, they certainly do look similar - the stopper is near identical, and the elongated oval cuts on the body as well as the interior optic seem to point to the same designer.

And the numeric part of the marking being 2508 while mine is 2507? Sounds like a match to me.

Thanks a million!

It'd be nice if someone could confirm this at some point, hopefully it's the right direction at least.   :) :)

I appreciate that, it would be nice to see it listed in a catalogue or similar, although the basic design elements and markings are undeniably the same. I can't thank you enough, Max!

The trick is to use the url tags, and put the web address inside the first url tag, like so:

[url=http://your.website.goes.here]link text[/url]
