Hi: I find it really hard to tell with sommerso. However, the colours on this don't look right and neither does the design at the top of the vase. What's the base like? Where did you buy it? The lip looks pretty good, though. I'll be watching to see what more knowledgeable people say.

Hi, the base is flat and semi polished i.e I can see faint one directional scratches, from cutting or dragging?

I was waiting for a pic of the base before I commented on this one. But my first impression due to the colour was not Murano. As lustrousstone pointed out, the colour is wrong and it does not look right. As to origin of this piece, newer and mostly likely Chinese in my opinion. Although more pics would be helpful (base and close up of the layers would be helpful).

hi,
i agree that with the sommerso it is not easy...
But I don't anything wrong on this piece.
Not a top quality, may be also a second draft, but colors and shape are compatible with a Murano origin. Imho of course.

I defer to Alex, of course. Is the semi polished base a concern, Alex?

David

Hi, yes it is. I have seen several reproduction of Murano glassworks made in China (also well done  :-\), but with the wrong detail of a not well polished base. But, expecially if a piece is not a first draft, it may be that the base is not finished at 100%. I bought several time glassworks not completely finished to add my own coldwork. So the base semi polished is not a guarantee that it is not made in Murano. imho of corse.

Sincerely
Alex

Alex:

Thanks for that. As usual, there are no simple answers to whether or not something is Murano.
