Title: Jug/pitcher/vase. Genuine or not?

I have been asked by a fellow kiwi to put this up, am hoping someone will be able to ID this for her. Not being a collector, she thought it was depression glass, but after I  thought it could be genuine Murano or a copy.
She currently has it listed here,

Also some extra photos from her, she originally thought that the inner layer was sand, but now thinks silver specks.
I know many have been copied, but she would be grateful to know if it was the real deal.

Hi sandymae,

It is always best, where possible, to get ID help before an item is put up for sale, especially if a piece may not be easy to get a definite ID.

Also, please note that the country-specific forums in here are for items known to belong to particular countries (or areas) and therefore all ID requests should be posted in the general Glass forum - except for items already offered for sale, which should be placed in the Market Place forum, which is where I shall move this thread to.

Hopefully somebody will be able to confirm an ID before it gets bought (I am fairly sure that the shape of the piece has appeared before in the GMB, but I have no idea when or where).

Thanks Kevin,  was'nt sure putting the auction number, but our auction site is only for New Zealanders or Australians with NZ bank accounts, so would be unable to be sold to any other country. Owner just wanted a bit more information on it. I have seen them in the past, but not sure just what they are described as.

sandymae, Lefton of Japan makes many vessels shaped like this. They have all kinds of decoration. Whenever I see this shape, I just assume it is Japanese. Barovier & Toso made this form, but cordonato d'oro is the only decor I've seen them do with it. I've had two or three of these type vases with various swirls in them. This is the first I've seen with metal, but I'm still inclined to believe it is Lefton. The size is right for them.

Thanks Anita, have spent hours on the net trying to find something similar, have found a few with the swirls in them, but this one does look to have silver.
