Title: small square glass what would it be used for

just found this, it is just over one and a half inches high seems well made any ideas about it , what it was used for age ect
any help would be greatful

Schnaps glass probably  made by Portieux in a colour scheme called Georges Sand.  Any time between 1840 and 1960

was told it might be a cordial glass. suppose thats what us brits used them for
