It is a plimsol mark - found on the side of ships to indicate depth, charge and balance.

I believe it's a Kastrup, as I bought a blue one recently (without the logo) and managed to identify it through this website. See this link

Hope this helps.
Best wishes

It might be a design carried into the Kastrup-Holmegaard merger - I've had, in the past, a number of different Kas-Holm glasses that date to around 1970, covering a range of pre-existing series, decorated with the plimsol line.

Hi Pinkspoons,  :hi:
I wonder, in that case if the design was placed on these decanters and drinking glasses in 1976, to commemorate the date of the introduction of the Plimsoll Line?

I believe 1976 would have been the centenery of the introduction of Sir Samuel Plimsoll's Plimsoll Line.

Although he devised the load line in 1872, it didn't pass legislation until 1876, and that must have been considered a very significant date, so perhaps that is the significance???

Just a thought for you to investigate Kieran.

Half the glasses I had bore earlier Kastrup-Holmegaard labels that dated to circa 1965-70-ish, and the other half bore the label that superceded/overlapped it - although I no longer have the glasses to check the production dates marked on the later labels.  :-\

But, with them bearing both label styles, I believe that early 1970s would be the most probable date for them.

The "Plimsol" mark logo is to be found on several glass type made to order by Holmegaard Glasswork to the compagny "Hempel Skibsmaling" Hempel Shipspaint. The earliest glass item from Holmegaard with this logo is dated 1958.

The cluck cluck is probably made to "Hempel Skibsmaling" along with glass types from "Skotland glasservice" (design Per Lütken) Scotland stemware.
