Title: Scandi or Czech
Post by: glasswizard on December 12, 2005, 11:01:55 AM
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y283/Muscadale/Tetchedbirdandbranch.jpg)  This is a very small vase apprx. 4 1/2 inches tall. I usually don't care for etched items, but the bird and the branch and the color combined intrigued me. It has a ground and polished pontil with wear on the base. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks Terry

Mod: Sadly, the photographs are irretrievable, but the thread has been retained for information.

its larger brother - I'm quite convinced it is Strömbergshyttan.

Thanks Ivo, I don't suppose you have any idea of the time frame for these, would you? Thanks again Terry

fifties or sixties.  Normally they should have a sig so you can date them (B for Blomvase plus model number) but mine is unsigned. If you can find the (expensive) Swedish production catalogues book, the complete catalogue reprints are in the back

Hej: Checked the Swedish Glass Factories book and could not id the
vase in the Strombergshyttan section but the presentation does not include a lot of their production.
The image of the bird is so standard to the most of the Swedish glass
works that I assume it was used in the training sections for
copper wheel engravers. The Orrefors glass school used in the during my stay in 1989 and 1990.
