btw, does anyone know who made this vase (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Beautiful-ruby-glass-gilded-enamelled-painted-vase_W0QQitemZ7392230179QQcategoryZ64878QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)?

Sorry, Simone   It's 'Dime-a-dozen Murano

I've seen them churned out in Murano recently and my mother-in-law has a set of glasses with identical decoration which was made in the '60's

As for the vase, I'm sure it's older, because I remember thinking how kitch it was - back in the 1950's... and they'd had it for a while then with all the accessories to match.  :?

I think you're right that it's older, but perhaps they've been making / copying the style for a long time?

Here's my recent example.  http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=o6waz8  http://tinypic.com/view/?pic=o6wb3l   Not as good as yours, but very similar, IMHO.

I have a similar piece but mine is a little more fancy with rigaree, same enamel work.

Mine is also older based on the wear to the bottom and the amount of "grunge" on it when I got it
