Good evening, I have just bought a neodymium glass hedgehog on eBay, described as made by EXBOR. It has arrived and is lovely, but there is no acid etched EXBOR mark on the base. This is the item url

Did Exbor make items without acid etched marks.....perhaps having a label instead?
All help, as always, very much appreciated. :X:

Hi Rosie, this earlier topic might help: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,29831.0.html 8)

Hi:
That's not what I would expect an Exbor Hedgehog to look like. Here's a link to a GMB member's Picasa album that shows one.

Yours looks more like something that would be produced by ZBS. If the seller hasn't already provided it, I'd ask for the source of the attribution.
Good luck.

Two issues:
1) The Exbor pieces had not been always marked with acid mark
2) Your hedgedog is not from Exbor but from ZBS - Zelezny Brod. Designer is not known to me for the meanwhile.

Can you post a picture of your hedgehog for reference please, as the ebay link will expire

I have seen unmarked Exbor hedgehogs, they were exactly the same style as the one in the link to my photos above (cheers David). They were quite a lot smaller (9-10cm instead of 16-18cm), more like 'baby' hedgehogs and their form was a little wonky - the execution was not as successful (but they were still very nice).

Thank you everybody for your input :sun:
I have had permission from the seller to use her photos:
I hope I have downloaded them correctly.

I saw a labelled one of these this week on ebay and it was a ZBS label,

This was probably it-

On the subject of Czech hedgehogs, I am obliged to mention something my friend Jindrich of GMB fame explained to me a while ago.
For those who do not already know, Czech names often have the habit of describing natural landscape features, as do British names. In discussing this, it transpired the Czech glass designer Mr Pavel Jezek's surname, a man who worked at Skrdlovice as a designer amongst other places, "Jezek," translates as "hedgehog," much as in England we may meet a Mr Edward Fox, Mr Brian Badger etc... Mr Hora is also Mr Hill, etc.. in translation.

Robert, you are a star!! :hiclp: That is exactly the same as mine, and so now at least I know what it is. The trouble is, I have had a look at the rest of the site, and I want them all.....well, the green one anyway!
Thanks also to Jindrich.......what a team :rah: :rah: :rah:
( BTW,My maiden name was Miller......I wonder if that is why I am allergic to wheat??! :24:)

Hi, i found this flint one today with a ZBS label on it!
-
I saw and bought this lovely chappie 'cos I thought he had some quality to him.
Similar cutting technique to Exbor.
He looks black, but when seen under intense light, he is a very dark amethyst colour.
Made by Bleikristall.
Is he special in any way? I have never seen another.
-
Oh! It just occurred to me you might like a picture of the label for the archives....... :usd:
-
Just to update this thread, we now know that Bleikristall is an importers or a sellers label, and this lovely hedgehog is actually a Miloslav Janku ZBS hedgehog, but does not bear his signature.
Here is a more recent link that confirms this

Thank you Anik for your help. :)
