Title: Archimede Seguso?
Post by: Jonathan66 on March 02, 2013, 02:15:28 PM
I've recently bought this vase in auction (UK). I don't know about glass, but my limited research shows similar vases from Archimede Seguso. Could it be one?

Welcome to the board.

Can we have a photo of the base please?

It is not Seguso IMHO, it does look like the fairly recent wares that are made in China.

These large bright, heavy and colourful vases can be found in every antiques centre in the country, invariably they are described as Murano. They lack the finesse that would be expected from high quality production from Murano, shapes are often a little crude as is the general execution of the piece. They have been imported in large quantities so there are plenty in circulation.

Ah,
Oh well, so much for a hidden treasure!
Thank you for your insight.

They are bright, functional and cheery. Use them without worrying that a little damaged could ruin an otherwise valuable investment!
