Title: Archimede Seguso Bullicante Lamp Bases...
Post by: kane_u_pain on May 21, 2011, 08:55:37 PM
2 Archimede Seguso round bullicante lamp bases. Pretty common but both have the labels. I still haven't perfected taking pics of clear glass  :pb:

Hello, researching a pair of soft blue or saphire coloured Archimede Seguso round bullicante lamp bases I picked up today.

Noticed a couple of people making mention to how common they are. So the question is, how collectable or desirable are they ?

There may be a fair few of these around but they are still in demand and for good reason, they are very attractive. I am sure this is the same reason why so many of them sold.

The design was also done by Seguso VDA and others, sure sign of popularity.

I have an alabastro version but I would still like to pick up a couple of coloured ones with matching colours (dream on).

Well done Kane they look great.

Got to admit, I like my pair plenty.  Although I haven't yet seen any with a shade. Did these come originally with shades ?  Anyone know what an original shade would have looked like ?

Not easy Robo. I don't think they came with shades and a small round white one that I bought looks OK but doesn't really cut it. I put a red one on the Alabastro and it also looks OK. I would, if I coul find one, put a tall conical one on mine - they were all the rage in the 60/70's but hard to find now.

They are good pieces...the clear one had a shade from the 60's but told the seller to throw it as it was aged badly. They tend to go for good prices here in OZ, $70 plus but I have noticed elsewhere, like Europe and the U.S they go cheap. It is definitely hard trying to match them up for a pair especially as I want labels on them, so even harder!

The shade on my piece was round and cylindrical and would have been white (yellow with age).

I am trying to collect most of the colours for research and reference. It will take some time though. I do love these, common but extremely beautiful!

True Kane but although common they are and will continue to be one of the most collectable pieces of Murano glass. I think this is due to the style and price. You can buy these for less than $100 often and what would 100 bucks buy you at a lighting shop?

They are a great buy I think.

A dodgy energy saving light bulb that lasts for a week!
