Title: Coventry Cathedral Tray/Tibor Reich
Post by: firestone on June 09, 2011, 03:40:18 PM
Hello Everyone and especially David who might be interested in this one.
Saw what I assume is a Chance 51/2" tray with a stylised transfer of Coventry Cathedral. Admired it but was not going to buy as I have just sold my London Series in a desperate attempt to downsize. I picked it up, turned it over, and to my surprise read on an old sticky label..
season's greetings and best wishes for 1968
freda and tibor reich
designed by tibor reich for coventry cathedral

I examined the front and there was tibor's usual 'scratched' t signature. I bought it!!!  Know he was designing his Tigo ware for Denby but had no idea he was associated to Chance. I am so thrilled.
Can you confirm the Chance connection David? Have tried to download photos but failed.
Regards, Pat. (blue intaglio hand. and green leaf)

They could of course be Webb rather than Chance...

Yes, I'd thought that...I have a Webb with African figures but I'm not at home in Chesterfield to compare pieces. Many thanks for the suggestion. Pat.
