Title: Glass Trinket Sets website
Post by: Anne on July 15, 2015, 09:31:06 PM
After our recent server move the GTS website is now back online. There is still some information to port over from the old server - mainly from the two big German makers, Brockwitz and Walther. The plan is to get those done next. Also the Mysteries are not yet online - as some are mysteries no more, thanks to all the input from you fabulous folks!

I also have a raft of information on new makers of trinket sets to add in - this is going to take time, so I will be doing it a bit at a time, hopefully you will see weekly progress after the site had stalled for a while, mainly due to family issues and workload.

Many of the images that I have been sent by email are now on the site (excepting the aforementioned German and Mysteries sections still to add). Thank you to everyone who has sent them to me, I think they are all credited but if I have missed a credit off an image and you want it on, please give me a nudge.

Christine, thank you, that's very kind of you. I'm sure it will fill in more than a few photo gaps.  :-*

I will have a look once I've finished adding the German sections off the old server. I'm pushing to get it all moved over before we switch that off at the end of the month so it has to be a priority. :)

Mysteries are back online, in a Gallery format to make them easier to see, and to let folks add images of new mysteries too.  Click the Mysteries link on any GTS page or go direct to http://www.glasstrinketsets.com/Gallery

Just remembered I have this odd candlestick in Wien pattern by Stolzle...not odd looking I mean odd in that it is all I have of the set.... inherited from my aunts mother as a keepsake. :) I have this perfume bottle too (the fittings are replacements) but not sure if its the same pattern, it came from the same person.....

Mystery set number 126 is by Ernst Buder pattern 570 on page 28 of the catalogue :)
Title: Re: Glass Trinket Sets website
Post by: agincourt17 on July 29, 2015, 10:22:05 AM
Thank you for the lead for IDing 'my' Mystery #126 set, Angela.

As you say, the lidded pot is indeed pattern 570 on page 28, and the candlesticks are pattern 350 on page 22, but I can't find a match for the tray yet - could easily be a mismatch I suppose, especially as all the pieces are in clear glass.

I will add ID notes to the comments section on the Mystery #126 section of Anne's GTS site shortly.

Fred.
Title: Re: Glass Trinket Sets website
Post by: Anne on July 29, 2015, 12:46:37 PM
Fred, I think the tray is Buder pattern 265 - the catalogue image isn't as detailed, but the lines and general appearance seem to match.  (Page 11 of the Buder catalogue.)

BTW the Buder section is the one I'm doing next! :)

Thank you, Anne - I think your could well be correct. Please transfer the Mystery #126 pics to the identified Mysteries section and
I will edit my Mystery #126 files on GTS accordingly.

I will send another section of identified photos (including those from Ernst Buder) to your GTS DropBox soon.

Fred.

Anne & Fred  just looking at your mystery set 115 and realised I have the candlestick which I have identified as Walther  'Walzen' pattern 42756 in the 1933 catalogue.... the other pieces appear in the 1925 catalogue http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Walther-1925.77+B6YmFja1BJRD03NyZwcm9kdWN0SUQ9MzM1OSZwaWRfcHJvZHVjdD03NyZkZXRhaWw9.0.html  but the candlestick alters by 1933 http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Walther-1933.34+B6YmFja1BJRD0zNCZwcm9kdWN0SUQ9MTMxNyZwaWRfcHJvZHVjdD0zNCZkZXRhaWw9.0.html
the only odd piece is the tray ?? The tray looks a bit small could it be this water set tray perhaps....http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Walther-1904.40+B6YmFja1BJRD00MCZwcm9kdWN0SUQ9MTU1MyZwaWRfcHJvZHVjdD00MCZkZXRhaWw9.0.html

Think I may have an ID for another mystery set #012   http://www.glasstrinketsets.com/Gallery/displayimage.php?album=15&pid=276#top_display_media     found the tray in Schwepnitz catalogue
http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Schwepnitz-1936.131+B6YmFja1BJRD0xMzEmcHJvZHVjdElEPTU2OTcmcGlkX3Byb2R1Y3Q9MTMxJmRldGFpbD0_.0.html    what do you think Anne ?
Title: Re: Glass Trinket Sets website
Post by: Anne on August 08, 2016, 01:38:20 AM
I think it's the closest match we've seen yet, Angela. :) There are slight variations, the ribs and base ring, which may indicate the catalogue one is a nibble / hors d'oeuvres tray, but I'd definitely be looking for more Schwepnitz catalogues to see if we can match the set up there.

I've done a comparison view using Pamela's catalogue image and a photo of the tray from the GTS website, hopefully Pamela may have some thoughts too.

Further to our discussion about mystery set #012 looking closer at the Schwepnitz catologues I found the candlestick...see here Anne http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Schwepnitz-1936.131+B6YmFja1BJRD0xMzEmcHJvZHVjdElEPTU2OTEmcGlkX3Byb2R1Y3Q9MTMxJmRldGFpbD0_.0.html   I had a repkg from Pamela who agrees it is a probable id the tray was a divided dish but very similar to the trinket set tray...she also pointed out the link between Schwepnitz and Walther which would explain the nice quality of this set.

Title: Re: Glass Trinket Sets website

Angela, this looks like the tray  from the GTS mystery set #113  http://www.glasstrinketsets.com/Gallery/thumbnails.php?album=118
with the lidded pots and an atomiser from GTS mystery set #031  http://www.glasstrinketsets.com/Gallery/thumbnails.php?album=34

Seems to be the same colour blue for all the pieces, so perhaps #113 and #031 from the same manufacturer?

Fred.

Yes it would appear so ...each piece of my blue set including the tray is marked Czechoslovakia...I also saw a pink set exactly like mine, Looking at the ring tree of Mystery set 031 http://www.glasstrinketsets.com/Gallery/thumbnails.php?album=34.....I have that with another set by Hermanova Hut

Post by: Simba on March 31, 2017, 11:39:18 AM
Haha well done Anne....talking of Schwepnitz I think I have further confirmation that mystery set #012 is by Schwepnitz and called Rippen see catalogue picture of candlestick here http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Schwepnitz-1936.131+B6YmFja1BJRD0xMzEmcHJvZHVjdElEPTU2OTEmcGlkX3Byb2R1Y3Q9MTMxJmRldGFpbD0_.0.html
which looks like one in you pjcs of mystery set 012 http://www.glasstrinketsets.com/Gallery/thumbnails.php?album=15
that along with the similarity of the mystery tray and the Schwepnitz divided tray http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Schwepnitz-1936.131+B6YmFja1BJRD0xMzEmcHJvZHVjdElEPTU2OTcmcGlkX3Byb2R1Y3Q9MTMxJmRldGFpbD0_.0.html
what do you think ????
Title: Re: Glass Trinket Sets website
Post by: Anne on March 31, 2017, 05:28:53 PM
I think that's looking very positive, Angela. If we can find the trinket set in a catalogue it would clinch it for certain. :)

To summarise:

There are under Mystery set #012 two different candlesticks. One appears to be Rippen, the other isn't and has a flange below the cup, along with a patterned shaft and a differently shaped base. So, either the pattern was amended for some reason, or there is another pattern name for the flanged version.

The tray is a match for the Asta kabaret tray as we've looked at before but we've not found an Asta tray without the dividers.

We have not found the lidded pots or the ring holder in a catalogue so far.

Angela, may I add Leonie's photo to the gallery or should I ask her directly?
Title: Re: Glass Trinket Sets website
Post by: Anne on April 12, 2017, 11:23:22 PM
I found a clearer version of the label that Leonie's piece carries, so we can see what it says better. Interestingly it does not say Sowerby, just TYNESYDE GLASSWARE MADE IN ENGLAND, so I wonder if pieces so labelled were made for a certain outlets?

The same label was seen on a Sowerby cucumber dish.  The more usual round label with Sowerby's on it may be seen in GlassGallery here: http://www.yobunny.org.uk/glassgallery/displayimage.php?pos=-9999 (http://www.yobunny.org.uk/glassgallery/displayimage.php?pos=-9999)

I have also now found Leonie's label on a full set of Sowerby 2552 butterfly pattern (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vanity-Dressing-Table-Set-/292053446891).... interesting!

You have about eight pics of the Mystery Set - Junior Miss style/Toy and an amber hexagonal ring holder in the middle of the Libochovice 1760 page you may want to remove.

Good job Anne.

A couple of things on the Mystery GTS site:

Mystery 165 and 118 are the same set.

Mystery 161 has a mismatched tray and all other pieces belong to Mystery 7.

Mystery 7 appears to have 1 mismatched green pot.

:)

Sorted I think, Jayne. It's not just me that uploads them and I know we tend to lose track of which patterns we already have uploaded to a mystery album. I end up bug-eyed trying to check them out, so having a second pair of eyes looking at them is immensely helpful, thank you. :)
