Topic: Australian depression glass

i got this bit of Australian depression glass from the carboot, measures 3.5" x 2.5", it's got a photo of Sydney harbor on the back, the colour is like an emerald green I've never seen this colour before would the date be around the 1930's? it's a candle holder come chamberstick, any ideas who made it?

Hi Ray,

Sydney Harbour Bridge was built in 1932 so this dish postdates that.

With this sort of view ware, often the blanks were imported  and the photos glued on locally.

The only group in Australia making domestic pressed glass items in 1932 (and until after the war sometime) was The Crown Crystal Glass Company. However, I don't recognise the pattern and the colour doesn't look right (although that can be an artifact of digital photography and computer settings).  I suspect that this one was probably imported.  :?

Does anyone know about ferries? The boat in the lower left hand side might narrow down about when it was made.

I'm not sure whether that information helps or not!

thanks for the info, the green is not like any green i've seen over here, the boat in the photo is called funny enough " sydney "
