« on: March 18, 2007, 12:41:25 PM »
Hi,
A friend brought this unusual slag glass glug jug along to a boot sale this morning to ask my advice on maker. I said i knew people far more knowledgeable than myself who would have a much better idea. So here I am again. Davidson's?

Chiarenza and Slater speculate in "the Milk Glass Book" that the purple marbeled pitchers were made by Davidson from Heppel moulds.  The original pitcher was made in white milk glass by W. H. Heppell, Newcastle Flint Glass Works, Newcastle-on-Tyne with a registry mark of November 24, 1882.

The one on that site has a different lip.

Massive. But the fish jug was about 6" (15cm) tall - I passed it onto Sue Marshall (chopin-liszt) so she can tell you for sure.
