Knobbly vase demonstration, Whitefriars Day 17th March.

(1/1)

Patrick:
Ray Annenberg, Whitefriars Master Glassblower, demonstrates blowing a Knobbly Vase, designed by Harry Dyer and William Wilson, using the S-shaped tool. Note-- this vase is in clear glass -- the amber colour you see on the video is HEAT. Filmed by Patrick Hogan on Whitefriars Day, 17th March 2007, at the Aaronson Noon Glass Studio, Earls Court, London.
I had to catch the vase when it was "knocked off" and put it into the Lehr.
Whitefriars Day was a very memorable experience filled with much emotion. Ex Whitefriars workers were there and it was Ian Blagden ( Bloggsy ) that applied the Pontil/punty . He was Ray's footmaker at Whitefriars.

Leni:
Patrick, you did a great job!  Rushing about helping Ray and managing the film the glassblowing at such close quarters, too!

Thanks very much for this - in fact, thank you for everything you did yesterday to help to make it such a fantastic event!

Patrick:
Hi,
Here is a very short clip of the S shape tool in use, the quality is higher. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxCQP5g18DM
 Regards Patrick.

Leni:
And in case anyone was in any doubt, that's Pinky shrieking excitedly in the background!  ;) ;D

It was indeed a very emotional day!  ::)

Pip:
Excellent - I really enjoyed watching that Patrick - it's interesting to see how many times it goes in and out of the glory hole and the 's' tool was a revelation to me too!  I presume the vase was signed or engraved in some way - who got to keep it?

Anyway, thanks a lot for filming it for those of us that couldn't be there and for sharing it here.
