Topic: Green glass with optics on metal base

Hi Glassies,
I get a "good feel" from this glass. The green is a dark olive green colour, with optic swirl. On a metalic base that is filled with something like plaster. I just have no idea where to start. Any help appreciated.

Is the metal silver? I remember once seeing an old solid silver ring holder which was filled with plaster underneath.

I don't know about the glass but look for a Sterling mark on the base. Weighted Sterling based items have a thin sheet of Sterling Silver over a plaster base.  Unfortunately, the plaster is prone to breaking down inside and you can often here is rattling around

Also E.P.N.S or Shefield Plate, any markings on the base?  you dont say size, reminds me a little of a storm lantern.
