Topic: Wine Glass: European or American?

This wine glass is 7" tall and 3-1/4" in diameter.  It was located in Hawaii at the time I bought it.  I can't seem to get confirmation that the glass is American made and was wondering if anyone recognizes the blank or cut pattern as European.  I thought the cutting might have been done by Heisey Glass's special cutter Emil Krall, but he has been ruled out and I have included one comparison photo below of a little oyster stem with Krall's Florentine cutting.  Although the base is not decorated other than the monogram, the hexagonal shape was cut and beveled and a unique "disk" was cut into the underside of the base.  The only purpose I can determine for the "disk" is to create an interesting shadow, as can be seen in the photo of the base included below.  Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

It's been suggested this stem might be Baccarat.  Baccarat appears to have begun signing their glass in 1936 and mine is not signed.  On the Replacements.com site, I can find many hexagonal bases with the same "disk" cut into the underside of the base and many of those with six panels or large thumbprints as does mine.  The knob or lozenge under the bowl is what I just can't match up.  Is anyone here familiar with Baccarat blanks?

Now, who would have done the elaborate cutting is a completely separate venture, I know.

This is a very beautiful glass! Would I be right in thinking it's what is classed as rock crystal? Because it looks very thick and deeply cut around the lower part of the bowl!

Leni, thanks for your compliment on the wine glass. 

The cutting on the (leaded) wine glass is not sufficiently polished to be considered "rock crystal." 

I am certainly hoping this photo I believe I've inserted into the Glass Gallery actually works and is able to be enlarged.  I'm embarrassed to say how long it took me .  It is a compote made by Pairpoint in their Buckingham pattern and is a great example of "rock crystal."

Lustroustone, whatever I did wrong, I guess I did it again.  It was, however, easier this time .  I seem to hit a point, after a detour through Infanview to reduce size of a photo, where I must decide where to put my photo in the Glass Gallery, and the option of an album of my own can't be found.

Just beautiful stemware.  If it is American, the intricacy of the cutting means only a few companies could have done it.  Seneca, Steuben, Hawkes, could be Heisey too, but I'm not that familiar with their work.  Will take a look at my books to see what I can find.  Beth
