Riihimäki trademark

(1/2) > >>

Glen:
I have noted that a number of contributors on the message board collect Riihimäki glass. I am an avid collector of Riihimäki Carnival Glass, and I would like to know if any of you have come across a moulded trademark that features the company's logo (the Häme lynx) and the word Riihimäki?

Glen

Frank:
Hartmann lists three similar, two from the 1930, and one from 1950/80.

The first two have the word 'RIIHIMÄKI' under the lynx and the latter circling it 'RIIHIMÄEN LAS OY FINLAND', also used the word RIIHIMÄKI on its own, straight or in a circle.

Glen:
Frank - thank you. Mine has the lynx with simply RIIHIMÄKI under it. I had assumed it was from the 1930s (as that is when they made Carnival), so your info backs that up. Thank you.

On some of our Carnival examples we also have the single word RIIHIMÄKI, on its own, straight.

One other trademark they used (seen on some Carnival) is a single letter R.

Glen:
Frank - thanks - what a lovely selection of photos of the Museum. The only section they didn't show was the glass showcase for the Carnival Glass. Coincidentally, that's the only showcase I DO show in my article.   Wonder why?
