Question about Chance Bros. 'Green Leaves'
robbo:
Hi,
I was lucky enough to get a 'Green Leaves' three section dish today ;D
What I wanted to ask was, on David E's site he says the white background is printed on the reverse. But on this one, it looks opal flashed on the top surface. Is this a known variant?
Many thanks in advance.

David E:
To the best of my knowledge, all Green Leaves will be opal-flashed on the top-side, except for the glassware (tumblers, etc.) which will be clear glass. That part of the web site has not been updated since it was created, so it is out of date. One other point is that the rims should be lined with green as well. I do already have the 3-segment rectangular tray.
Very good find, Robbo, as this pattern is very rare.
robbo:
Thanks David,
When I first saw it, my eyes nearly popped out ;)
The rim is green. I'm still going through the "new purchase euphoria" phase, but it really is the best looking piece of Chance I've picked up in the last five years of Charity shopping!
Not bad for a fiver? 8)

David E:
An excellent find and, IMHO, one of the better designs. Staggering to think that it never succeeded, despite a reasonable promotion by Chance. Perhaps it was too far ahead of its time, but at this time Chacne were aiming for the elite market and perhaps the modernist design coupled with a high price, proved off-putting?
Whatever, the design certainly would not look out of place today!

Photo please Robbo. :D
