Well he just came out of the box before I came away again, so will try him with the UV light when I get home next week.

Just found this interesting piece on SV Hens on Nests (turned out there was a hen on nest in another of the boxes lol)

No reaction to UV light, but agree it's not Vaseline.  The article above has an image of a hen and egg cup in the same glass, but doesn't describe the type of glass.  Jadite sounds right.
