Nice Carnival rose bowl ID: "Sunburst", probably L.E. Smith

According to Fenton Compendium, "A small F in a vertical oval was used in molds that were acquired from McKee or molds purchased from other glass companies.  This practice was started in 1983."

So then one listed is Fenton from a McKee mold, post 1983.  I still can't find that piece documented in any of my books  :x

Glen:
Connie, yes I know that Fenton use the F (instead of the entire word "Fenton") for moulds that are not of their own creation. Our wwwcga "Woodsland Pine" piece that Fenton produce for us has the Fenton F only (the club owns the mould and plunger).

I have L E Smith early advertising that shows several items in this Hobstar and Pinwheel pattern. It is noted to be using McKee moulds. The shapes shown don't include the rosebowl though.

lhazeldahl:
Good Morning,
I thank you for your interest, I cannot find anything identifying on this piece.  It has 4 mould lines and a few little "birth defects",  and it is very heavy for its size.  It is 4 inches high and 6 inches wide.  I tried weighing it, my scales are so decrepit, so I guessed, compared to canned goods.  Near as I could figure, it's over a pound but lighter than 1 1/2 pounds.  The color is different, not the marigold, orange, etc. that I've seen.

Glen:
The pattern is Sunburst (original McKee name). Moulds in this design were bought by Kemple Glass, though I don’t think your iridised rose bowl was made by Kemple. Other makers, including Fenton, also own old McKee moulds. The Sunburst pattern has been made by Fenton but I can see it in the shape of a vase, a basket and a pitcher - but not a rosebowl.

I have a strong feeling that your Sunburst rose bowl was made by L. E. Smith (who called the pattern Pinwheel and Hobstar).

Hello, Glen,
Thanks so much for getting back to this,  I appreciate it very much.  I'll follow up on this and be in touch.  I like your site , it has been alot of help to me.  I have learned so much from you and the other people here, and I just want you to know how grateful I am.
