Awww Pamela, not you too? What is it with the post atm?   :-\

Big sympathies re the Brockwitz... which one was it?

selina:
The only piece of glass I ever bought from the U.S...a gorgeous twisted stem epergne..heavy and stunning and colourful. I couldnt wait to get it and it cost me a bit with the postage.

As soon as I got it from the post office I could hear the tinkle of glass. It had been double boxed which seems a popular way to send over there, but the inner box had no padding around it so it was just bouncing around inside the larger box.

I was so disappointed and we couldnt fix it. The stem was so thick and heavy and the top was heavier, even with wire in it, it couldnt be repaired or supported. I ended up throwing the whole lot in the bin, which I regret. It had come from her grandmothers things, and this was in about 2000 when ebay was young. I have never seen another one like it since. And Ive never bought anything from the US since either.

Sorry to muscle in on your post..it just instantly reminded me when I saw your pics.

Can't help with your query Frank but :o OMG, I've seen it all now.  What dingbat would put a glass vase in a cardboard box with no padding or other packing and then post it?  Frank, you have my commiserations - I do hope you gave the seller a lecture on packing glass!

btw Trudy, I buy and sell a lot of glass and ceramics from/to America with no problems at all - you were very unlucky with your first purchase but don't let it put you off.

Frank:
There was one piece of bubble wrap, old and partly flattened... kicked off a dispute with Paypal and seller offered bid amount not postage. I pointed out that due to the poor packing they should pay the whole amount. But Paypal said that I had to obtain an analysis by an independant expert with knowledge of the problem by fax and that I could not reclaim the cost of this... err hang on :( grrr! So I proposed a deal and the seller came back with 2.50 - accepted as any other option will cost too much. Also the seller cannot see the pictures, which I sent to 2 email addresses before putting up the web page - claims he cannot see that either  ::)

Anyway, point of posting was not another shitty ebay seller denouncement - but to see if anyone else has any marked or labelled Hillston Crystal.

My fiancée and I recently bought these 5 small crystal glasses. We were unable to find the "H" mark, but we were able to make out most of the name on one of the glasses. The only reference that we could find to Hillston Crystal was on this message board.
