GEORGE PEABODY GLASS PLATE
« on: July 22, 2007, 03:34:26 PM »
Picked up a George Peabody glass plate at a car boot sale for £2. I have since found it on the WEB and a picture of it in this forum. It dates from 1869 I think. Anyone have any idea of its worth ?

 :)

Welcome to the board. :)

Worth being a subjective term it would only be an opinion which can vary from day to day depending on  where it's being sold, and how many people want it as to what the value may be.  Miller's Collectables 1991 gave the Peabody pressed glass 5" diameter saucer made by Greener in flint glass a "book value" of £20-25 but that was just a snapshot at that time. There's no evidence that it would be "worth" the same today or how much more or less the plate would fetch if sold. They turn up on eBay from time to time, so your best bet would be to keep checking and see what they sell for there. Hope this helps. :)
