Heavy, thick walled 'beak' vase possibly Czech?
« on: August 14, 2007, 04:14:53 PM »
Any thoughts about this one would be much appreciated :D.  Not even sure if it's Scandinavian, but my feeling is that this is where it belongs (unless anyone knows different :))  Extremely heavy and thick walled.  Internal splash of colour on the side - kind of flower or petal like.  No marks seen on the base but lots of age related wear so may be covering any markings.  Approx. 7" high.  Immediate thoughts - Strombergshyttan or Orrefors - and fast running out of ideas.

The "flower" decor looks swedish to me, I've seen the same kinda coloring on paperweight at tradera.se.

Can I give this one a little bump please - seeing how we've got lots of new members? :X:
Also prompted by Dinkledip's little vase which instantly reminded me of mine http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,36342.0.html
Could mine possibly be Czech?  Jindra - I hope you are looking in ;)

Anne, your vase does look a bit more Czech than Scandinavian, perhaps it needs to be in Glass.

Vaguely Beranek.

I have certainly seen vases like these sold as Czech, the factory is not known to me sorry (but certainly not Skrdlovice-Beranek). As you suggest, Jindra may have seen this pattern on his glass travels in the Czech Republic, he will catch this thread hopefully and comment in more detail,
