Flashed glass salt (?) sitting atop a budgie...
« on: August 20, 2007, 04:51:17 PM »
I really liked this little piece, so probably paid too much for it... ::)

Does anyone have any ideas on who might have made it - or the metal base?  The flower shaped glass bowl to the top has nice sharp diamond file cutting to some petals, alternating with engraved flowers over cranberry flashing.

Silver plated base doesn't seem to have any markings, and the whole thing is just 3.5 ins 90 mm tall.

It has a very continental look to me?

Thank you very much!

Surely they were never meant to go together?  The bowl looks a bit tipsy...  :)

yes, it is very tipsy!   ;D

The base is quite thin plate, and I assumed (or rather hoped.... ::) ) that it had just got a bit bent over the years. However, this may be me wanting it to be something it isn't....and falling for the birdie... :ac1:

There is no doubt something was on top of the budgie  (which may of course be a parrot...) as there is a screw thread that runs right up the centre.
Thank you very much!

Oh Pamela, that little French bulldog is just darling!  How big is he, about 20mm? I have had little cats just like him, with collars like that, but not a dog.
Thank you very much!

Lynne, let me guess from home - it should be at least 3 cms height, but after all, ít is TINY. The base is not much more than a domino  >:D

Lynn, look's like a Hobaur top and an Ianthe base if that makes sense

I would say definitely a parrot, rather than a budgie. :)
