Dating a Whisky bottle RD 725384

(1/1)

Frank:
This bottle has a British registration for 1926 (725384) and a Swiss musical movement. Material used in the movement suggest a date closer to 1950...

If anyone is going to the records office it would be good to know who registered the design... I expect it relates to the way the base indent is moulded to proved a recess for the movement and its spring clip.

The transfer decoration is unusual in the amount of enamel and it might be part hand painted. This might push dating back to pre WW2.

Lustrousstone:
Perhaps the Seaforth Highlanders uniform suggests 1953-61, see  here

Frank:
Looks to be a good pointer, firmly back to my original estimate prior to finding the reg number! It is a good example of the amount of time that such numbers can appear - of course it also makes one wonder how the design was being used pre-WW2.
