Hour Glass Vase - Possible Kaj Franck??
« on: March 19, 2010, 03:58:23 PM »
I bought this via Ebay where it was described as ...petrol blue hour glass vase possibly by Kaj Franck...I like it a lot whoever designed it, but, of course, I'm curious to know if anyone on the Board recognises it or can point me to a designer/manufacturer.
It measures 23.5 cm high x 8.5 cm at its base, 7 cm at its rim.  It is very light in weight, less than 250 grams.
Thanks, Iain
Iain

Looks very much like a Kaj Franck piece I have so I'd say yes,

Very elegant, and Franck used the Diabolo shape in various designs. But the mere fact that is has such a shape is not enough -  so unless a solid reference turns up I'd reserve an opinion.

Thanks.  I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised - I half expected the idea of Kaj Franck to be shouted down, given that the last Scandi pieces I put up were attributed, in double quick time, to Asda!  So to know that KF really is a possibility is encouraging.  I'll keep ferreting for more Diabolo comparisons.
