I have owned this vase
(See here) for over 15 years, but never found out where or when it was made. I have not seen another of the same size and shape. Any ideas on this are welcome.
It is 44 cm (15 7/8 inch) tall, diameter of base is 16.5 cm (6 1/2 inch) and the base section is 7 cm (2 3/4 inch) high. Weight is 2.27 Kg (5 lb).
Rim viewProfile of baseFinish of baseAs seen in the overall view, when lit from the back, it has a typical orange glow seen in most opaline glass. The base, however, being thicker than the neck does not show the glow except under very strong light. The opalescent rim is clearly visible in most lighting, including camera flash. Strangely (?) the ground out pontil area also shows the opalescent colour even though there is little light entering that part and the glass is quite thick in that area - in fact, at a casual glance, it appears to be a pastel blue glass overlaid with green!
