Topic: Pressed & Hand-Finished Bowls

Not my usual fare, but these (a pair) were rescued from a carboot clear-up crew - the seller hadn't managed to sell them that morning and so they were abandoned in a box with some rubbish.

They appear to have some age to them - lots (and lots) of bubbles, striations, frit, tooling marks, uneveness. So they're either old, or just very badly made. 

Also... are they posy bowls or dessert dishes? 85mm tall, 125mm diameter. They're fairly weighty.

No, they're moulded - the crimped rim is the only part that's hand-finished.

Probably posy vases - similar in general demeanour and size to a Sowerby African Shield and a Davidson 'Tower' (I think) vase - anyway the one Chris Stewart describes as one of the company's most uninsipired designs. Are there scuff marks in the interior where a frog would have rested?

Just hunted out the vases you referenced - there are some similarities.

There is some minor wear inside the glass, but it doesn't seem consistant with flower block scuffage - just very light scratches randomly dotted here and there.

They're not my cup of tea - I just hate seeing things needlessly tossed out.
