Heavy cased Vase, Czech or Murano?
« on: December 03, 2007, 10:42:29 AM »
here's another one recently exhumed from the depths of my store cupboard, a large and heavy cased vase.

It fades from clear at the rim to a deep blue towards the base. It has a ribbed pattern at the sides of the vase and eggy looking white and yellow splashes concentrated towards the top. It measures approx 8 1/4 inches (22 cm) tall. Base is ground flat with a ground & polished pontil depression to the centre.

Any information as to age or maker would be much appreciated.
Thank you!

I vote Czech. The bevel on the bottom edge looks a lot like a Czech vase I have, though mine doesn't have an indent. The bottom looks very un-Italian to me.

Cool vase!
