Animals made of glass
« on: March 14, 2008, 03:45:59 PM »
I have a few nice glass animals and I heard there is a zoo.  What type are in the zoo and where should I submit the pictures.  Here is one example.  (I have a few American made if those are wanted.)

The large tiger is 1 3/4 inches tall and 4 1/4 inches long.

I'm sorry I don't know their age except I bought them in the 70's.

Hi,

Very nice, tigers seem to be unusual in lampwork, all those stripes I suppose. The Zoo takes virtually any figural glass, mould blown, cast or lamp/flame work, bottles - animal and human. We are a bit short on the American continents but all and any are welcome. Most items have multiple views - Sides, front, top, bottom and any useful close-ups. Most of the images are 600 pixels on the longest side but I prefer larger images to start from and on a white or neutral background.

We have had some success in identifying makes and this is probably the first attempt at cataloguing lampwork, Currently just under 600 figures. But most lampwork will remain unidentified unless a labelled is found - or adverts/ catalogues.

You can mail up to 4Mb per email, use the envelope icon to the left of this post. Thank you.

Hi Deco.Queen,
Has the large tiger suffered an injury to it left front leg ?   Did this happen whilst in your care ?
  All best wishes Patrick.

Incidentally, www.glass-zoo.com contains many figures, many Russian made:

These art glass figurines are made with much skill by Russian artists from St. Petersburg, Russia.

Not sure if this was the origin of your tiger figures?

Hi Patrick,
No injuries to the tigers, whew!  His foot is just way back, he's taking a giant step.  ;)
