Mdina Cut Ice for your Delectation

Thought this deserved a few pictures, simply stunning...

Just using new software, may have to attach a couple of pics in separate posts, due to file size

Enjoy

I agree, well worth showing off Greg, these early cut ice lollipops are fantastic.

Mine was the very first piece of Mdina I bought (fiver at a windswept bootsale one October). I can't resist so here it is....

Nice pictures John, I find these cut ice lollipops delightful, the colours are stunning.

I think yours sounds like more of a bargain than mine! That's a great find especially for a fiver, you must have been chuffed.

At the time I bought it I had hardly heard of Mdina, I was much more interested in Scandinavian glass. I went home and tapped the details (it is signed) into google only to discover one that had just sold on ebay for many hundreds of pounds. I was not so much chuffed as stunned, chuffed came a little later when I realised how the character of the vase changes with the light along with the sheer art and beauty of it.

Of course the seller had it marked as Medina and told me it was from Italy and if I held it up to the light I would see nice yellow bits in it (which I did and could). They were asking ten pounds but accepted five. Now I know that I should have felt shame at knocking them down but at the time ignorance was bliss...

Now owning it is bliss. >:D

I only have 5. (I have roughly 20 each, cube-y things and Fishies.)
One Cut-Ice is signed - it is absolutely the best one I've ever seen, and it cost a lot. Another is a different shape - not round, but a tall oval shape, the same sort of height as the normal ones, so a good bit smaller. Pics tomorrow.

I really, really like the cube-y things - they're post-Harris, but they're basically these, just un-lollipopped. I believe it's a Dobson "take" on them.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)
