crude cane in strathearn

this paperweight which is a strathearn has very pastel canes apart from 4 rather crude canes can anyone tell me about these canes

I think we need a bit more help to see which canes you are saying are "rather crude". From the evidence of the many thousands of Strathearn weights of this type, it is clear that at some stage, they really got into cane pulling. There are so many variations of simple and complex canes that it is bewildering how they came up with all the different patterns!

At one time, I planned to make an analysis of Strathearn canes, but even with help from a kind collector who gave me a CD with images of lots of these closepack weights, I found that almost every other weight I looked at had yet another range of canes! The project is still on the "to do" list. ::)
