Uranium bowl. Northwood? Dugan? Rare?
« on: March 06, 2008, 09:49:16 PM »
I think I've asked about this before, but I can't find the thread - and it might have been on a different forum  :-\ my memory is so bad! :-[   ::)

I think this bowl is (was :-[ ) made by Northwood or Dugan, and is a variation of their 'Daffodil' pattern. Can anyone confirm?  And is (was  >:( ) it rare, or common as .... whatever?

It's just that it got 'catted' while we were away at the weekend and sadly is now in pieces  I need to know if it's worth claiming on the insurance policy, as we have a £50 excess, so unless it's worth a lot more than that it's probably not worth claiming.  At least it didn't hit anything else as it fell and break that, which has been known before with 'catted' items  ::)  I really must get some more white-tac or museum gel  :'(

Daffodils was supposedly only made in water sets and a lamp. I say "supposedly" because a sugar shaker surfaced last year.

A more likely pattern is called Iris in Edwards & Carwile's fifth edition of their opalescent book. They value the vaseline vase at $100.

But, Edwards and Carwile have been wrong over and over again.

Thanks, Ron.  It does look more like an Iris to me, but I only knew about 'Daffodil'.

At $100 it's obviously not worth claiming with £50 policy excess

Ivo: yes, glazed, braised, the lot   >:(  >:D

David: will you be at Gaydon on 20th April or Dulwich on 27th?  I'd definitely like to take you up on the museum gel.  How much is it?

Thank you all  :-*

Not sure about Gaydon yet, but I had better be at Dulwich or I'll get shot ;)

No problem I'll bring it down - you can have it.

My sympathies: last week my cat destroyed a Barovier and Toso console bowl, which I assumed, totally incorrectly it turned out, was too heavy to be moved by a cat. Now, how did I answer that question about the burning building and saving the work of art or the cat?

Thank you very much, David E :-*  Much sympathy, David (langhaugh)  :(  Come to Dulwich and we'll share out that museum gel!  ::)

My problem is that I have four cats, and what one might not be able to shift they all gang up to wreck!  >:(  But I think I'd still save them, not the work of art!  I'm just such a softie :spls:  ::)

... I wonder if putting the Museum Gel onto the cat's paws might work...  >:D

Might make them 'pause' for thought? ;D
