Yellow 60s (Ashtray Bowl)
« on: March 26, 2008, 04:01:44 PM »
Hello
While out on the flea market today one of my buys was this 60s piece very thick and heavy yellow bowl/ashtray i was wondering if this was swedish or could it be. Marano it stands 2.5ins high 4.5ins across.

I was also thinking could it be Holmegaard blown glass ashtray by per lutken's bit of wear on bottom but very tiny in perfect condition,
thanks for any info on this loverly piece of glass.
                                                                Steve

Pretty colour,  its machine made, probably large numbers im afraid, by any one of a load
of factories. I expect 1970s/80s.

You may find that shade of yellow goes orange under your new UV light - cadmium in the colorant I think, otherwise I agree with Andy

I've seen these described as Sklo Union but I'm unconvinced unless Marcus can confirm otherwise.

Humppila, Finland did something similar, with a 'square' base and four rounded 'wings' at the top.
