Green glass lidded pot / sugar bowl (not uranium) - ID = Sindorf Neckar
theElench:
Until I found the same pieces here as Mystery #82 I sometimes wondered if they were in fact a set at all. Although all the pieces have elements of each others designs they each have some inconsistency.
The pots are clearly from the same set, but the star design on their bases doesn't match the one on the tray.
The candlestick is so slim and angular which seemed out of place with the rest of the set which is distinctly rounded. Also it doesn't have the groove to the high points of its base or column which is inconsistent with the pot lids and bowls. The grooves and panels at the top of the candlestick are repeated, unlike the pot lids. Is it possible that the candlestick and tray are from one variation with several layers of panels and the pots a different less complex one?
Jayne:
They are very nice pics theElench! I agree the tall slim candlesticks are somewhat out of place, but I have seen them several times with the tray, pots and ring holder.
Finally after 18 months I have studied a little more as promised and taken a few comparison pics, you are quite right Anne they are not the same.
I'm unsure if my green "Neckar Style" pot is the small or large as I only have one, but it measures at 10cm across x 9cm high.
The blue Sindorf Neckar pot measures 12cm across by 9.5cm high.
The biggest difference I suppose, is the sunburst in the base of the unknown pot, plus the grooves instead of ridges on lid and base.
Anne:
Jayne, thank you, those are really useful photos and show the differences up well. Seeing them side by side I'm now more inclined to say your green one is not Sindorf but until we find it in a catalogue we're a bit stuck to know for sure.
theElench:
Hi Jayne, the two pots I have are:
Small. 10cm dia. and 9cm high.
Large 11.5cm dia. and 10cm high.
Jayne:
Thanks for that theElench, that's useful to know, my pics of the green Neckar style pot are the small version then. :)
